G2 and Contender compatibility
« on: January 29, 2009, 11:35:54 PM »
Gentlemen; I fly weekly for work and am very time limited so researching guns is tough. I have 2 contender frames; 1 set up pistol, 1 carbine.

Are the contender and G2 barrels and forends compatible/interchangeable? I would appreciate an easy answer as a simple search hasn't clarified this for me. Thanks ever so much. Greg

I understand G2 grips will NOT fit original frames, so I will need G2 or contender gri/butstock for compatibility depending on barrel selection; is that correct?

The only incompatibility I am aware of with factory barrels is G2 Muzzleloader barrels have an attachment that prevents its use on original Contender frames.  One of the aftermarket barrel makers has a couple of offerings with the same attachment.  By far the majority of barrels interchange.  You may have to hone the locking bolts, but that can happen with any barrel/frame combo.

As Keith said all the non muzzleloader barrels will fit.
Only some of the contender forends will fit the g2 frame. but all the contender forends will fit a g2 barrel except muzzleloader.
The g2 frame has a small bump out on side like encore where as the contender is  flat that is where the problem is in putting contender forends on g2 frame but even that can be overcome by a little sanding where it hits the bumpout.
