38 in a 357

weve heard that if you shoot 45lc in a 454 chamber you need tho clean the gun vary good before using 454 or bad things can/will happen.  remember hearing the same thing with the 44spl/44mag.  38 in a 357 is encouraged, yet ive never seen this warning.  any thoughs?

Chambers must be thoroughly cleaned after shooting .38 Spec. cast bullet loads in a .357, or the shooter will soon be unable to chamber .357 loads properly.

If you would just follow the philosophy of cleaning a gun when your done shooting, none of these worries would be troubling you. 
I don't mean to be sarcastic, but the truth is yes, you could run into problems. Clean it when your done and worry no more.


 BTW, Same should be said for 22 shorts in a LR chamber...

Personaly, I shoot many 38s for every round of 357 and no, this is not an issue.

I do shoot cast bullets in both calibers, and after prolonged firing of 38s in the 357 chamber there can be a ring of lube and powder in the chamber.

AS already stated above, this is not a big thing and as is easy to take care of with just "normal" cleaning.

However, at least in my case I need to do a lot of shooting before before this cleaning is required.

I suppose some lube and powder combinations might be worse, but all in all, nothing to really be concerned about.

 A bronze phopher brush of correct caliber, a good solvent followed by cotton swaps and very lite oil if not shooting right away...

There is nothing specail required here, just a good cleaning regimen and common sense.
