Winchester primers
« on: January 25, 2009, 07:28:20 AM »
I have an old box of Winchester primers marked #111. Anyone know what they are? I believe they are large.

Thanks

Here's a Winchester components chart of primers. Looks like Large Regular Pistol to me.

Bill

I did a quick search and found something weird .

http://www.rrarms.com/catalog.php?prod=WLR

Here R&R says that the #7-111 are Large Rifle Primers .

http://www.grafs.com/product/202022

And here Graf & Sons say that the #7-111 are Large Pistol Primers .

Just another reason to double check EVERYTHING !

Yep, I saw the very same thing Richard and it had me doing a double take as well.
Kinda why I ended up at the Winchester site, hopefully their chart is correct...
All my Winchester Large Pistol Primers are labeled WLP and indicate Large Pistol for Standard or Magnum Pistol Loads. There are no other numbers as are listed on the Winchester chart.

I just check two old sources a Handloader's Digest, and the 1975 Shooter's Bible.  The both show show Winchester and Western Brand #7-111 primers as Large Pistol Primers.

Note large rifle and large pistol primers are the same diameter.

Same diameter, but a different length I believe.
