Im looking for 30/06 loads using 150 gr bullets and the following powders.
IMR 4320
IMR 4831
H 4895 Thanks and good luck. POW

For many years used 4320. Really good powder for '06. Usually used 53gr in bolt guns, an 52gr in Browning BAR. Found 4895 usually not as accurate at 4064, 4230, or 4350. If you need to, try 49-50gr 4895 and go easy. Sorry, never tried 4831. Even with the 26" barrel on one of mine, I could not see any advantage over 4320 or 4350. Luck.

Blackhawk , just checking for safety sake to be sure the loads you listed are for 150 gr bullets.
Anyone know a 150 gr load for the 4831?. Good luck. POW

For 150gr, IMR lists- 4895-49.5gr for 2850fps @ 50Kpsi; 4320-51.0gr for 2825fps @ 50Kpsi; 4350 59.0gr for 2825fps @ 48Kpsi; 4831-59.0grC for 2715 @ 43Kpsi.

I used older manuals and the 4320 loads I first listed never gave any sign of high pressure. 4895 may show pressure signs at 48-49gr. Also used the 49gr/4350 in several guns with no sign of problems. Luck.

IMR 4831 is to slow burning for efficient use in '06 w/150s. No experience with 4320 in '06. Have years of experience with IMR 4895 and H4895 on '06 with 150 gr bullets. I have found either of the 4895s to be top performers with 125-150 gr bullets in most every '06 (there have been a number of them) I have tried them in over the last 35 years.

Just recently tested (Saturday) some Speer 150 SPs in a new Adams and Bennett 24" '06 barrel on a Husqvarna M98 action using H4895. I worked up to 51 gr (max listed) in R-P cases with WLR primers. They ran 2918 fps withan ES of 23 fps for 10 rounds. The 10 sots went into 1.12". They also shot just under 2 MOA out of my SA '03A1 running a tudge slower at 2892 fps. No excessive pressure signs whatsoever in either rifle.

51 gr of H4895 is the max listed load but I have worked up to it in quite a few rifles and have yet to find one that did not like it. With LC26 Match the brass is a little soft and you will get some hard bolt lift in the 49-50 gr range but with R-P, W-W, FC, etc., or even LC M2 brass there is not that problem. Temp on Saturday was pushing 80 degrees but the new H4895 is an "Extreme powder" and not very temp sensitive which is another plus for it's use over the IMR. I use 48 gr of the surplus 4895 (cannister IMR 4895 is pretty close to the lot of surplus I have) with 152 M2 bullets to duplicate the original specs (2800 fps) of M2 ball.
