Daisy 22SG
« on: April 02, 2009, 12:40:16 PM »
I see this going for under $100 plus shipping. Is this a good deal? Does anyone have one? From what the stated velocity it shoots about 50 fps or so slower than the Benji 392. Thanks, Charlie

Look at a Crosman 2260. It is a Co2 powered .22cal that gets about 600fps.
same as the Daisy with no pumping. The pumping kills my arm. I have 2 Sheridans,
1 about 30 years old and 1 modern version. Both still deadly accurate. The old one
shoots substantially faster though. As 8 pumps is the max, a 5 shot group takes 40 pumps!
A real muscle cramper! The Beman I have will actually make my arm sore cocking it!
Although I normally shoot it for a couple of hours at a time!

SS, does it use the small CO2 cylinders or the larger ones? If the smaller then is there anyway to convert it to the larger ones? Charlie

normally the 12 gram is what is used but i have seen one with an 88 gram
mounted under the barrel. It may have been a custom creation though.
I am seeing some really cool custom airguns now that I am in the market for one.
I am normally a military surplus fanatic, but those are about dried up now.
my new passion is air power.

the diasy 22 is a very good gun, i have seen them new for that price. I have a 2200mag crosman and i like the 22 pumpers, also the 22sg is going like 550fps, cropsman 2200 is 600fps, the Benji 392 is 670fps all with cropsman pointed. the 22SG is a very good 30 yards or less hunting gun for rabbist, coons, and there like. Co2 have the problem of that they don't hold air well, and you have to buy more co2 later. If i were you i would get a pumper and be happy with it. also 10 pumps for most pumper but the crosman 2200 &2100,Sheridans only 8 pumps for full power, more then 8 for those gun can mess them up and they lose power past 8 pumps.

Thanks Jamaldog, part of the fun for me about buying something new is changing my mind a few times and finally settling on something. I am looking at one of these for a starter 22 for me and maybe pass it on to my son when he gets old enough. Charlie

that one thing about co2 guns is that there gas hogs and most get only 30-50 shots per co2. look at this site to learn more about some airguns http://www.reviewcentre.com/sreviews15.html
