Omega or Triumph

I'm looking to break into muzzleloading, and I've pretty much narrowed my decision down to these two T/C guns.  As I see it, the major differences are in the breech plug (no tool needed on the Triumph) and the fact that the Triumph "breaks" while the Omega doesn't.  Also the Triumph is lighter, presumably due to the alloy receiver.  From the point of view of folks who are familiar with muzzleloaders, are the features of the Triumph a big enough improvement over the Omega to justify the extra $100?  Or should I buy the omega and put the $100 into bullets, etc?

The fact that the Triumph is not offered in stainless or with a laminated stock really leaves me cold.  The Omega is an excellent rifle.  I'm going to wait for the new Knight that is coming out in May.

T/C's funky bore size makes it hard to find a combo that's easy to load and shoots well.  That's not the case with most other American made rifles.

I have the triumph blue with black composit stock. shoots great. but the primer nipple does not come out as easy as they say. You can get it with real tree camo stock if you prefer. you might also look at the CVA optima as you can get rifle barrels for it and it comes in stainless. walley world has them on a closeout at this time. Another one to look at is the Lyman mustang if you wont break open it has a great looking wood stock with a great finish. There is also the TC Z 5 which is a lot like the Triumph. There are a lot of choices out there and with prices from 100.00 to 600.00 you just have to find the one with the features you are after.

as has been said the TC load hard after the 3rd shot with sabots. I think they leave too much plastic in the bore. I use the yellow power belts with no problem.

The stock finish on the Lyman mustang is faux.  Don't scratch it, or try to refinish it.

I have a stainless omega with the composite stock and I love it.  Personally, I would get the omega becuase it has been around a while and not been discontinued like the TC black diamond and some of the others they came out with that we can't remember the names of.  You can get aftermarket stocks, recoild pads, and various other parts for them as well.  Some of the parts are interchangable with the encore like the breach plug.  If TC discontinues the triumph next year, are you going to be able to get a breach plug in 5 years for it?  I know there are people who like to buy the latest and greatest so 5 years from now they would probably have gotten another muzzle loader so things like that don't matter.

Ouestion what is Faux finish? I know that is how the stock is finished but do not know for sure what it is.
Is it something like the brownings an other deluxe rifles an shotguns? When I first picked one up I thought it was plastic but knew it was wood. As to no longer made that is the problem in this country, we find something we like and buy it and then a year or two later we find factory no longer offers it. I have 2 fine Mossberg SSI ones and now the only way to get a extra barrel is buy a whole gun when you can find one at the gun shows.

It's similar to the camo finish they put on plastic stocks.  It's a thin film of plastic that looks like high grade walnut.

The finish on the stock of my two year old Mustang has not chipped, cracked, scratched or faded after two hunting seasons and many, many range sessions.  I have over 1,000 rounds through it.

may take a look at the cva accura.  only sale for $269 at cabelas.  also try www.budsgunshop.com  So far this rifle seems to be a real winner and the best inline cva has made to date. (inline of course)
