I find myself on the tail end of my naval cannon project. Now I am looking for my next project. A barrel maker I am not, so I will farm that out. I have become intrigued with the banded Civil War Barrels. I am most drawn to the Widow Blakely due to its history and interesting shape due to an accident. So my question is what kind of carriage. It is shown on a standard carriage in all the photos of where it is on display. I have also seen scale models of it mounted on a Barbette like carriage made of wood. So was it on a Barbette style carriage originally and then put on a field carriage when it was taken to West Point. I am looking at a GB caliber. Scaling it down. I come up with a 23"L Barrel and 15" wheels. I would love to here any information that the group has on this gun. I would love to see some photos. I have seen some online. I know the boys at Seacoast have probably seen this thing in person. Any help appreciated.
