Hodgdon H110 And Alliant 2400 Have worked well For me with 158gr Hornady XTP. Get the Hornady Manual and work up and you'll be happy!

I actually liked Lil' Gun better than H110 in my Handi Rifle and 7-1/2" Super Blackhawk. Seemed to be a little less muzzle blast and recoil but still good accuracy.

I missed the point about the hog hunt.  I would find some 180 gr LBT style hard cast and appropriate dose of H110.  In a 10" Contender the .357Mag becomes another animal(and a good one at that)!!!

2400 is an excellent powder for 38 Special, 357 Magnum, 44 Special and 44 Magnum.

Potentially unsafe loading data removed by Graybeard. Stick to loading manual supplied loads.

Try that with some powders, such as Unique and you will blow up the gun!

So 2400 is an efficient as well as safe powder.

Also, it is the powder that Elmer Keith used for the 44 Magnum.  And he did a lot of research and testing.

My 10" 357 has always performed extremely well with 296 and H110 using the 158XTP. For extreme accuracy with low muzzle blast I decided to give VV N-110 a try last year with some impressive initial results. :o
