couple of ?'s
« on: April 06, 2009, 04:28:36 AM »
I want to try my hand at BPCR and have been reading everything I can on it. I've been reloading metallic cartridges for years so i have an idea what it takes. first question is-when using a pre-lubed bullet, is it nessesary to use a wad between the bullet and powder? also, is it mandatory to use a drop tube to charge a case or can you just jiggle the case to settle the powder? not looking to get into competition shooting, just want to have some fun.

#1 No it isn't necessary to use a wad between the bullet and powder but you will probably get better accuracy and less leading in the barrel if you do.

#2 No you don't have to use a drop tube.  You can tap the side of the case to settle the powder.  The important thing is to not have an air space between the powder and bullet.

You said that you have been reading everything that you can on the subject.  Here are a couple of my favorites.
