Sling swivels for the Rem. 740
« on: January 21, 2009, 11:37:45 AM »
Hello shooters,

A friend and I are try to fit a Rem. 740, an oldie but goodie for a set of sling swivels.

The problem is, the rifle is old enough to be out of the listings for Uncle Mike's products.

A local supplier did order a set of #1171 - 2 and said they would work.  Wrong!!!!  Mounting bolt is too short.

We called the Uncle Mike's customer service, and were told the the 1221 - 2 would do the job, even though it is listed for the Rem. 760 and 7600.

Looking on the Uncle Mike's web site, the 1221 - 2 does look like a closer fit then the one already in hand.

Anyone deal with this before, and if so, any suggestions?

Keep em coming!

Try the Uncle Mikes split barrel band set. I have them on 2 of my 760's and they work like a charm. Nice neat appearence and easy to install. I like this set-up's look over the full barrel band, but it's just my persoanal preference.

Final chapter.

Well, the Uncle Mikes, #1221 does the trick on the old model 740.

That is in spite of it's being listed for other rifles.

So, problem solved.

Thanks for the help and Keep em Coming!
