Brass!
« on: February 06, 2009, 07:12:59 AM »
Wanting to start loading 308win soon for my new Handi Ultra.
Looking for in stock brass and everyone seems to be low or out.
Anyone have a source they bought from recently?
Is the price at Cabala's for Rem or Win, new unprimed are $39 per 100 average,
and is the Nosler or Hornady brass at double price worth it?
Thanks -g

If you can buy the Rem. or Win. .308 brass at Cabela's right now, do it. BUT I would bet they are out of stock like every online store.
Last few I got was from Mid-South before the election and haven't seen them again since.

Nosler brass is a better case and if you want new, right now, it will probably be all you can find. Other than that, keep an eye open for once fired brass. It's mighty scarce right now as well.

Good luck!

If your REAL desperate, I have a PILE of commercial '06 & 270 brass. I could be talked out of some... ::) :D

Easy to make 308's... Lube it, run it thru the 308 die, trim the neck and uniform the neck thickness. You got your 308 brass!! There is one extra step as the 270 as its smaller then the 308.

Bill, I did as you suggested and went right back to Cabala's and grabbed up 100 Rem 308 brass. The Win's were already out.
I got 4k primers last week. 2k S.Pistol and 2k L.Rifle. My friend in Arizona picked some up for me at his local shop thats drying up. He's rolling in to N. California next week to drop'm off. Funny how a quart of Kettle One works 8)
Found 1LB-ders of Vargent online last night. Also picked up a few 100 165gr - 180gr Rem CorLoc's from Cabala's. I wait'n for my new reloading gear to arrive and den up and get some bullets made! -gary

MIDWAYUSA usually has more than one brand of brass in stock for decent prices. I am ordering most of my 308 brass from them. Good luck, Ken
