Custom Grips for RSB Hunter
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:57:51 AM »
The grips that came with my gun are not very good.  I'd like to spruce up the gun a bit by adding some new grips.  Does anyone out there have any suggestions on where I can go for some nice grips.  I don't mind spending a little money, but I don't want to go too crazy...

Thanks

Best 3 choices for wood ones:

CaryC, Klamath River Woodworks and RugerForum.com member 41magnum.   Haven't bought from CaryC yet but have from the others multiple times each.  Excellent stuff without breaking the bank.   Just be sure to get the right ones for that gun as the SBH's do have diff grip frames.  The Hunters are the same as the dragoon style ones.

Thanks guys... Hey, what do you think about finger grooves on a single actio gun. Just doesn't seem right. Unamerican or something.

Finger grips on a RSB may not seem right but they sue worked for me.  I used them on all my RSBs.  I used Hogue and they improved my accuracy and consistency.  I'm a hunter not a Cobwboy action shoter.

I had to put the Hogue grips on my RSBH Hunter...Without the grips, I wasn't able to maintain a decent grip on those wood grips wearing gloves while hunting in the winter.

Mine was setup for the late season where longer shots can be the norm for the yarded deer, or deer who move as a group.
Ugly: Yes
Accurate & Consistant:(read with the Hogue) Yes
I have two more diff model iron sights that I use in the regular season.

I'll take it one further - does anyone make custom grips with finger grooves for the RSBH Bisley? I assume the bisley grip frame is the same on all Rugers, correct? ???
