I got a sad call tonight
« on: February 04, 2009, 03:21:18 PM »
My grandson just called from Texas tonight. He is in the army. He is flying out of Texas and going to Kuwait for two weeks and then he will be going into Iraq. The only think I could tell him was to stay safe and I loved him. Carl L

May God keep him safe. Dale

Carl my friend, I feel for you.
Our prayers are with you and your grandson.
GOD and his fellow soldiers will keep him safe.
I can only pray that the service & sacrifices they are making will keep my young sons from ever knowing the horrors of war!
The next time you talk or write to him thank him for me.

Carl,

I've been where he is going and I know he is going to need things.
Please have him send you his APO when he gets it.
When you get it, please PM me with it and I will send him a care package.

Rest assured, he is part of the best fighting force in the world... The US military ;)

I am not from the same branch of service but we are all brothers with a common goal. ;)

May God Bless and Protect your grandson.

My family will pray for him as we do all the troops.  As stated before thank him for us and let him know that he is in our prayers.

My nephew just made it back from his second deployment without injury.
I pray that your grandson will be as fortunate.

Carl,

I can understand your worry as my grandson deployed with his Marine Unit Recently. It makes you worry and a little afraid of what could happen. Yet, know this, he is well trained and serving with the best. He wanted to serve his country and for that we all respect him.

While extremly hard for the parents and other loved ones you can be proud that he is doing what he wants to do. Keep the faith and pray that he will be safe and I will do the same.

Write him often and plan for the happy day when he returns safely to his family.

May God Bless him and keep him safe! My he grant you and yours peace in your hearts.

Carl-

My grandfather agonized over his two grandsons who were in SE Asia in the late 60's early 70's. I cherished the letters I got from home, but more then the rest, the 'one' I got from my grandfather was read over and over, and I still have it in my reloading bench drawer. About halfway through my overseas tour I got his letter that started out, "Dear Jeff, I just signed my name to a check and figured if I were well enough to do that, then I needed to be writing to my grandsons". He was never well enough to do it again until after I came home. I was the last to come home and he died 8 months later, but is still cherished.

My prayer requests Holy Spirit protection for your grandson and his mates, and the Lord keep you healthy that you may flood him with 'letters from home' and be there for him to come home to. It for sure will make his time go faster and God Speed him home, safe and sound.

Sweetwater

Thanks everbody for the kind words. He is going to e-mail us when he gets set up there. I will   let everybody know when I find out something. His dad (My Son) retired out of the Air Force with 21 yrs, was in Kuwait twice, so he clued him in on some things. My wife and I are going to Florida the 7th to visit my oldest daughter and coming back the 21st of Feb. I should know something by then. Thanks again. Carl L.
