Beeman or Gamo
« on: June 04, 2007, 08:34:26 PM »
I got a Ben Sheridan 392 and Im looking for something a little better. I dont like pumping it all day when I target shoot and I dont like how the scope mounts. I thought about an RWS 34 or some kind of Gamo or Beeman. I wanna get another .22 cal. Which brand is better? Anybody know of a good, powerful 22 from Beeman or Gamo?

Sir I would suggest the top of line Beeman R-1 or R-9 Goldfinger.  Rws the model 48.  Small budget the RWS 34 and 36 are at great prices at natches and others.  I recently went through the same agonizing search and the RWS 34 has me second guessing my decisions. Saw it too late.  I like the beeman air rifles and I really wanted the top of line beeman R-1  in .22.  Cost is too high for me. I am happy with what I purchased but do question my decisions now once I saw the prices of the RWS 34.  I seem to have a hard time spending for high quality.  I definitely prefer the .22 cal.  I wanted a cheap .177 air rifle strictly for shooting at home and .22 for hunting, and was lured by the Beeman name with low prices.  Enough rambling.  Happy shooting.

I personally don't like Gamos but a lot of folks do.  The RWS 34 is a pretty decent gun for the money - around 175 bucks at Midsouthshooterssupply.com   It will last a life time and is good German quality.  I currently have 6 different RWS rifles and am please with all (models 24, 46, 93, 94, 300R, and 350M). If you can spend the dough, go for the R-9 or R9 Goldfinger but you are probably looking at over 300 and maybe up to 400 bucks depending on where you find one. If 600-700 fps will work for you go with the Beeman R7 (around $300).  Great little rifle.  I have both RWS and Beeman products and like both.  Stick with the German made Beemans if you go that route - same for RWS.  The Chinese and Spanish made Beemans are no better than a Gamo and some say worse. Another option is the RWS 36 (same gun with checkered stock and rubber butt pad) but it will run you another 40 bucks or so (See Sportsman's Guide).  Good luck.
