Navylawdog:

I will keep this short.
For what ever reason you had I want to thank you for your service, past and present.
I also want to thank you the most for one main reason.
As long as AMERICANS as your self keep joining the military of their own free will it will be that much longer before UNCLE SAM tells my two young sons that they will have to put their lives on the line.
I pray that GOD will keep you & all of our service men & women safe and that my boys never have to know the horrors of war!

Good luck to you!

I will stand for your rights as my forefathers did before me!
My thanks to those who have, are and will stand for mine!
To those in the military, I salute you!

Thanks to everyone for their support. I only have four more days to go until I leave once again. I will be able to keep in touch for a while though. I just have to go through the warrior training course and then to school so I will have internet access through the summer anyways. I won't be able to stay away from GBO for long. Also I want to make a remark about all the branch bantering. I know it is all in good fun but no matter what branch we pick we all have the same job in the end. And knowing that there are great people like you guys back here cheering us on makes it a whole lot easier to make the decision to do what we do. I know there are those out there that don't like the military and talk badly about those of us that decide to live this life and I along with all the others do it for them as well. Its not their faults that they are sheltered and will never understand REAL life. Military men and women give their lives daily for them to live in their fantasy worlds as well.

One last thing.
Where ever you wind up be sure and tell all the members of our great military that there are still plenty of people back home who believe in them and appreciate what they are doing for us.
May GOD bless all of you!

Let me see if I get this right.  Feel free to correct me, I'm counting on it.

Yea, the Air Force is different.  They require high scores to get in.

Is that supposed to mean that everyone in the other branches isn't as smart or incapable of high test scores?

They teach you a useful skill and actually let you work on stuff.

You should mention that to the mechanics working on the helicopters, tanks, humvees and everything else out there.  Those mechanics are highly sought after in the civilian world because they learn to make machines work without always being in a shop to fix it up.

Most to the time you see your wife and kids everyday, & you aren't used for target practice.

I'll admit it, I've taken friendly fire in my home state during the two weeks of annual training from artillery.  It's a risk, but nobody ever sings songs about that brave guy in the rear having an icecream sandwich.  When people think of troops they think of guys that show some bravery and self sacrifice.

Funny you should mention higher scores!
When I enlisted in the US Army with a friend of mine, we went in on the buddy plan.(1960)
By that, we were to spend basic training and Advanced Inf. training together.

Funny thing happened! He couldn't pass the test, and didn't join with me.
The only one he could pass was the ..........................Air Force test, so he spent the next 10 yrs. in the AF. "Honest truth" That was a long time ago, and I guess things have changed since then.

I think Napoleon was just a corporal back then ;D

"Anyway" I hope things go well for you and your family during your next tour!

I know it is all in good fun but no matter what branch we pick we all have the same job in the end.

At the end of the day, I probably have too much fun poking fun at other branches and talking meaningless trash.  I think most guys do.  It's great to see the kind of pride people have in their branches and their service.  Truth is, I'd sit down and have drinks with any one of you!  We'd probably end up ribbing each other more, but that's all in the fun.

Best of luck to you navylawdog, and I mean that.  If you find yourself needing soemthing, let me know.
