33 degrees with not a cloud in sight in a clear bright blue sky here is Cut Bank. Another typical beautiful February morning here...weather here in Montana is so nice so often, that a little windstorm or snow storm every once in a while breaks up the monotony.
Slept good last night but woke up early. After waking up I was very uncomfortable, so for the first time in a couple of days I took a pain pill....then about 6 am sat in my chair with my laptop and started to type this...at 8 my wife came in and asked me if I would like a cup of coffee...I started to tell her let me finish this, and when I looked at the screen it was blank. Good drugs are helpful on the road to recovery.
Although right now I can't get out to shot like you guys there are stilll things I can do. I can work on my book. You might find one project interesting. One chapter will be on the counterfeit Martini's. With the help of our fine GI's in Kabul I have acquired a couple obviously counterfeit rifles. After careful examination I have come to the conclusion the rifles themselves are genuine commercial Martini's. The commercial markings have scrubbed and replaced with markings to make the rifle appear to be British War Department issue. These markings are dead giveaways that they are fake.
Here take a look, can you spot the fake.
What I am going to do is fall back on my old cop days and do some serial number restoration and see if I can pull up the markings. It's very ovious that something got scrubbed from the side of this gun.
I have to polish up the metal real good first then apply a homemade concoction of copper and muriatic acid and see what shows up.
