Integral scope mounts, how stable are they?
« on: June 19, 2010, 07:32:53 AM »
I am thinking of putting a scope on my new generation Mini-14, it came with the rings and I was sizing up a traditional 3X9 scope last night to get a feel for how it goes on the gun, might go with a fixed 4 power though.  I may also get a M77 Hawkeye down the road and it uses the same style scope mount.  How stable is this design, does it need to be periodically checked for tightness like the Remington Model 700, etc?

If you are talking about "Ruger rings" with the semi-circular cleat, they tightened up and stayed put on my two #1's in 22-250 and 30-06.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Yes, this is the issue Ruger type semi-circle grab rings that came with the gun, nice thing to have the rings already to mount. ;D

I think Burris may make them for Ruger.
If not, they make a really nice clone, if you ever need a different height.

Got my Ruger M77  300 WinMag in 1988. Shooting full house hand loads they have never given me any problems.
