.357 magnum range report ( with pics )
« on: February 08, 2009, 10:14:33 AM »
heres a 4 shot group at 100 yards using MAGTECH 158 grain SJSP's. the second shot was me not concentrating (bottom right). the other three were an inch (each square is an inch) . i don't guess that's to shabby with factory ammo.  my .357 is one of the new combo's with the 20 guage slug barrel . i have a nikon 2x7x32 prostaff on it with a set of durasight rings. i need to get a trigger job done , then maybe i can make a clover leaf group at 100 yrds.

That is pretty good shooting! What is a good price for one of those? I saw one in a shop today at $229. Always wanted a 357 rifle.

Great group...........these new 357s sure shoot good.  Did anyone comment on how smooth the bores are compared to some earlier handis.

I forgot to mention, when I got my Handi .357 I sighted it in with Magtechs 158 gr. SJSPs at 60 yards.  When I was done, I had a one hole, 5 shot group dead center.  I haven't seen a reason to put any other ammo through it.  Nice to hear someone else has done well with them.  I have only used the .357 on varmints and small game, so I can't say how well they'd perform on deer.

Petemi  +1 on the .357. Mine is the same. I put a 2x scope on it scout style and it is going to be my back up hog gun this weekend. If I get lucky the first day I will hunt with it the second day. It will definitely go deer hunting in the fall.

PETEMI,

i can tell you how they work on deer , three shots last deer season , three dead deer. two bucks and a doe , the doe was 70 yards and fell in her tracks. a four point was 40 yards , fell in his tracks. then an unlucky eight point got one of those MAGTECH's through both lungs and ran about 50 yards before expiring, good blood trail , was an easy tracking job. needless to say i like MAGTECH ammo and i love my 357 handi.
