11-87 light contour? whats it worth?
« on: March 18, 2009, 02:31:45 AM »
I have an 11-87 light contour in left hand. I would say the gun is around 90-95 percent of its original condition and has around 1000 rounds through it. Im wondering if you guys could give me an idea on how much I should get for this shotgun when selling it to a store. Basically I want  to trade it in on a rifle I have on lay away but when doing this I dont want to get screwed and let it go for less than I should. If it makes a difference I live in the MN/ND area.

Consider yourself very fortunate if a store allows you $250 for it.

They are worth more if selling to an individual but stores want to make a profit and few will accept less than $100 profit which means they'd have to list it at $350 to do that if they put $250 in it. Dunno about there but here 11-87s most often have prices less than that used on them. Being left handed greatly reduces the market for it so the store is likely to be less willing to hold it until it sells and thus will offer less.

I think the last used 11-87 I bought cost me $300.

i just bought the sporting clays version, really nice walnut and very light contour barrel...gave $499 for it and that was a good deal.

for some reason shotguns suddenly are more expensive around here, even though they're not the guns people have been buying up.

i would have thought the left handed version would be worth more...not less.

who knows. check gunbroker or look around at used gunshops.
