96-44 rings?
« on: February 12, 2009, 08:28:35 AM »
I was wanting to put a scope on a 96-44 for some load testing.  I had a set of rings from a model 77 but no dice.  The 96--44 I have came to me without rings and I hate to drop 50 bucks for new ones.  Is there any other option or ring that would fit?   Thanks SN

If you already have a set of rings from a 77---you will only need to purchase one ring.

Since the 77 has 2 different height rings--you'll have to determine which height you'll need for your purposes then buy another of the same height.

Midway has nice selection of Ruger rings that are sold per each.

77's USUALLY come with medium rings---meaning a #3(low) in front and a #4(med) in the rear-----so you'll need either a 3 or 4 depending on what height you need---in the same finish(blued--stainless) and size(1in or 30mm) as the ring you want to use.

Well this may not be so tough.  I looked online and the rear ring looked sorta odd, making me fear it was unique to the 96-44, so I was about to throw the towel in on getting it scoped.  Not being sure it would remain beyond load developement I hated to spend money for a set of rings.  I will follow your link.    Thanks for the help.  SN
