If he wants it, buy it!  Had my AA's for over 20 years and am extremely happy with performance and accuracy.

Good Luck

Just remind him the AA barrel won't fit a regular Contender frame unless it's modified. the pivot pin hole is smaller because of the AA coating, some folks have reamed it out on their own, TC custom shop does it for a nominal fee (or so they say on their website).

I have an Armour Alloy and I prefer it over stainless.  They are easily modified for the hinge pin size.  My AA frame has a slick action too, the coating seems to provide lubricity.  Another advantage is you can usually find AA barrels cheaper than blue or stainless.

i bought one new for about half what a new stainless costs, reamed it meself, carefully, using a wooddowel and valve grinding compound, the thing will throw 250 grain homecast 44 magnums into a 3inch circle at 1oo yards all day long...well, as long as i can hold it...it doesn't take long to ream it out, but there are better ways to do it,like let your trusted machinist do it, but it can be done by hand....carefully, checking the pin-fit very often...
