tight neck on 204?

I just picked up a new 204 ruger and after shooting it last weekend I found that when I went to reload the brass the neck was real tight.  Normally a bullet should be loose in the neck of fired brass.  This ws so tight you have a hard time to push the bullet in with your fingers.  Is this common with the h&r?  I also have a handi in 243 and it seems tight.  After loading some remington brass with 23gr of 4198 and a 32gr nosler I had some primers leak.  Possible from high pressure because of a tight throat on the rifle?

Well, anything is possible. But like Larry said, I doubt it as well.

Is this with factory 204 cases or reformed 223's.

If it bothers you, do a chamber cast and see what you have. Its outlined very well in a couple stories in the FAQ's.

This is with new remington 204 brass.  It's not a real concern just found it odd.  Still working on  load for it.  I want to use it to thin the coyote population up here in the Interlake.

  A bit tighter neck is not a bad thing. You can uniform the neck thickness to "even out" the tension if you feel its that tite. But as you working with factory stuff, I wouldn't remove too much.
  This is a accurate cartridge by all accounts I have read. Should put a good hurtin' on the song dogs in your area.

After putting a few more miles on the rifle and reloading the brass a for the third time I'm finding the neck is sarting to loosen up abit.  This is now my new favorite rifle.  I think I found a load it really likes.  Had quite afew three shot groups 1" or less.  The smallest was at about 5/8" at 100yds.  Can't wait till it warms up some to start burning alot of powder.

There is little that more interesting than an accurate rifle. Glad you have such a good shooter!! 

I have herd many of good reports from the accuracy of this caliber!!

I think the rifle is more capable than myself.  I probably just got lucky because it was about -20C. When it warms up and I can keep my trigger finger frostfree  I'll give it a workout.
