30-06 expander die
« on: February 21, 2009, 11:55:43 AM »
I am experimenting with some light loads in 30-06.  I tried one with a cast lead bullet to see if it would peel lead off or not and it of course did, so I am in need of a expander die.  I have not been able to find one form my usual online ordering sources so thought I would ask here.  I thought maybe a 30-30 expanding die might work but the differences in case dimensions make me think it probably won't.  Is a custom die maker needed?  Where can I get a expander die for a 30-06?

Give one of these a try , should work very well for what your wanting to do .

Gently flares the case mouth to accept cast bullets without shaving. Works great to prevent damaging the moly and low friction coatings found on today's high performance jacketed bullets. Includes neck plugs for .22 cal through .45 cal. Works on everything from the 22 Hornet to the larges Ultra Mag. Costs so little and works so well you can't afford to be without one.

LEE Universal Case Expanding Die $14.98

90798 Serv.Parts

The red is were I copied it from Lee's web site .  ;D

The Lee Univ. Expander works fine.
Got mine from Midway and use it on cast 308 and 243.

Does what is advertised and for a cheap price.
If you set it up properly it will gently flare case mouth for seating lead boolits.

A Lyman "M" expander die is another very good option, it is made for cast bullets!
