Don't think so, not full pressure loads anyway,  it has the same .513" casehead and pressures of other bottlenecked mag chamberings.

Isn't the 6.5 Rem Mag a necked down 350 Rem Mag case?

The 6.5 Rem Mag was / is a neat cartridge but never quite got a following. I owned a Model 600 Rem in it and it was a great shooter but not for the recoil sensitive.Makes a good deer antelope  gun though with lots of bullet choices. This being said a better choice would be a 6.5/06 or a 260 Rem. The 6.5/06 will have the same case capacity (slightly overbore) and the 260 will be so close to the 6.5 Rem mag with a short barrel you won't notice the difference. Another choice would be the 6.5 Swede ,which in a strong action will be a very good performer.I sold mine because I couldn't tell a bit of difference between it and a 270 (and a collector wanted the Model 600 real Bad!)

I have actually been thinking about a 6.5 rem mag build on a Savage action that I have collecting dust. As I recall, the 350 and 6.5's parent is the 7mm rem mag that is cut down to fit a short action. The 6.5 seems like s reslly nest round. I would be interested in hearing more about it.
