I envy you guys. Now that I'm all "growed up" and have a farm and animals, a wife and chores and errands to do, I can't slip away like that. As a kid, I would grab a rod, a gun, a knife, an old G.I. mess kit, an old army trenching tool, my pup tent, bedroll, coffee pot, coffee, frying pan, a slab of bacon, salt and pepper, a roll of T.P. and disappear for a week or two in the Adirondaks. I'd be fine with trout, bluegills, catfish, squirrels, rabbit, dandelion greens, cattail and burdock root, mushrooms and cowslip for veggies. I miss that. I had a classmate that was into the same thing, and we'd go together. He'd bring his gear and chow plus a cookpot, so we were set.
