Any Turkey hunters here?
« on: April 02, 2009, 04:35:52 AM »
The boss will go weekend after next while I stay behind and work :'( Truth be known, I did not and have not ever applied as the Turkeys are pretty spotty in the patches of my private ground.
I hear them just enough that I do use an HS-Strut dbl Kee Kee diaphram as a change up to call the Coyotes in.

I lost my turkey hunting spot last year.  I am still looking for a place for next year.

I buy an archery tag every year just in case but I've never been specifically turkey hunting. After reading some posats on another site it does sound interesting though.

I have hunted turkeys the last 2 years. I guess you could say I am new to turkey hunting.

It can make for a very intense hunt for sure. Camo goes without saying but one must also make sure to break their outline with the back brush and remain perfectly still. The reason being is that the turkey will often just poke its head above a rise in the ground to check ahead before proceeding and you will never see that. It is also widely acknowledged that if your gun is out of position, you can Never outdraw a turkey as it will simply be gone!

Wish you luck on your hunt Bill...it might be an annoyance but an exciting time if a Coyote hits your decoy!...this is becoming more & more common.
