Reloading Information for PP Bullets
« on: November 18, 2008, 02:50:15 PM »
What reloading manual would you guys reccomend for loading paper patched bullets in a .45-70? Does the Loadbooks .45-70 manual have that information? I am interested in smokeless powder loads mostly.

Use cast bullet data.  I've found that load densities of 95% to 100% work best for me

In Paul Matthews book, he explains PP reloading with smokeless.
I have some 45-90 PP cartridges loaded with smokeless and will pass on how they shoot as soon as I can get to the range. I loaded them , so that I use the same grns. of smokekess powder as my grease groove bullets. I set the PP bullet, veg. wads and grease cookie, to be the same depth as the base of the GG bullet would be.
Most of my Sharps shooting is done with black, but I like to work with smokeless also.
