Skeet Shooting with Tactical Shotgun
« on: September 03, 2008, 12:54:54 PM »
I had a chance to try this on Labor Day.  A family member had a mossberg 20 gauge pump.  It has a pistol grip, not a full length stock.
Just for fun, some of us tried it on the skeet range.  I hit about 10 in a row standing on station 4.  It was the high house.
It was not difficult.  With the pistol grip held slighly below the armpit, the gun points very naturally.  It was fun.
Has anyone tried this?

Nope, never tried it. But this is just one more example of how any decent shotgun will get the job done. No need for a high dollar competition gun. Fun is fun.

When I was much younger, we used to shoot skeet at night with 12 ga 18" barrels.  Great fun, BIG flames out the muzzle, big noise.
For even more fun, try skeet at night with a 10 ga muzzle-loader.  BIG flames, BIG boom, big cloud of smoke.  Made doubles very difficult.

Unfortunately, most ranges around me will no longer let you shoot anything with a barrel less than 24".  Safety concerns I guess.
