standard contour barrel
« on: February 26, 2009, 01:23:05 AM »
I may have overlooked this in the FAQ... I'm easily distracted as I read, there is so much info.  I would like to know the diameter at the muzzle of a standard contour barrel, and a bull barrel.  Thanks in advance!  What a great site!!!

When you use the  Control F keys, enter the word "muzzzle diameters" and it will take you to the info you are looking for.

Looks like an extra z snuck in there. ;)

Not any more, I fixed it, thanks Bill!!  ;D

Tim

Standard barrel muzzle diameters range any where from .640" to .750", depending on length and chambering, bull barrels are ~.800" at the muzzle, 357 is ~.740", and the big bores are even bigger, up to ~.890" for the .500 S&W. My 243 Superlight is .637" and the 30-30 is .642", not a lot of difference for some barrels. Marv's superlight is .595" IIRC. The 26" barrels are also a bit smaller than the shorter standard barrels at around .650".
