Bullet Slides
« on: August 30, 2003, 09:30:31 AM »
I had C&J Traders ( http://www.thecowboyshop.com/ ) make up a couple of badge slides into bullet slides.  This way I can get to an extra round or two if needed (my gun belt doesn't have loops on it.)   I didn't want a full-fledged bullet slide similar to the shotgun ones.  Figure I got too much on my gunbelt already
Shown below are .38 and .45 slides with my badge slide for comparison.
They made my rig and do good work.

Danged if that ain't a great idea there. I shoot with a belt with no lops when I shoot frontiersman and for rifle reloads I do have 8 loops sewn on my shotgun belt and lately I have been thinking of getting a leather shotgun belt instead of the web belt I wear now. One of those holders might do the trick. I would also like to see a snap on slide for about 8 45-70 rounds. When shooting plainsman I stick my 45-70 just into my belt. That is not a great way to carry them and a slide that would snap on and off a 3 1/2" belt would be better. Good idea there pard  :-)

'Great idea, but are those button snaps period correct?
I'm thinking of the style of snaps on my WWI dated pistol mag. pouches.  I use a musket cap pouch for loose (.22ammo), but that's certainly more awkward than your slides.
I use a Mackeever pouch for .45/70 but that's a fingernail buster too!
