Would 19.5grs of H-110 under a 300grxtp hornady bullet be a good enough hunting round?

heh, heh, I thought at first you were talkin' for your .460. I was gonna say you're about 25 grains short.


Hornady's manual lists 17.5 to 20.1 of H110 under their 300 grain XTP.

Hodgdon's website recipe is 18.0 to 19.0.

Hardly ever see Hornady hotter than Hodgdon.

IMHO, it's your call, but I wouldn't start @ 19.5. I would start @ 18 and go from there. Handgun or rifle?

IT;s a pistol buck  I'll back up to about 18.0 and give it a try,,  taurus ragingbull 44mag.

I use 20gr H110 w the 300gr xtp.  Recently used 23gr H110 w 240gr xtp and easily killed a 400lb hog.

Please understand VERY CLEARLY this is NOT a load reccomendation I am merely telling you what I do. I load that bullet in the lower cannelure putting the least amount of it in the case giving the most case capacity and use up to 22.5 grains H110/W296 with it. When I use the other cannelure I drop the load to 20.5 grains of same powder.

That is what I do not what I am telling you to do.
