T/C Warrenty update

 Bought a renegade second hand last fall. Darn good shape and a good shooter. After a 100 rounds or so and several cleanings, symtems of shot out nipple appeared. No problem, change the nipple right? That's when I discoverd the nipple was actually an "oversize". The breechplug had been taped to .15 over! 1/4x28 wouldn't fit. >:(
 So I bought an oversize nipple to fit the hole. Lo an behold, that nipple went too deep! It seated so deeply in the breech the fire from the cap couldn't reach the main charge! (aftermarket)
 Long story short, I sent the barrel to T/C along with this very same explanation. I sent it 1/10/09,,I got it back today 2/24/09. New Breech Plug/nipple/and they re-blued the barrel!
 Man! When they say "lifetime warrenty" they mean it! :D :D

 It's really too bad the blued it,,cause I'm gonna strip it and rust brown,, ::)

Keep in mind that original Hawken rifles were blued.

i think that would really be hard to say with accuracy that they were all blued. Ive seen plenty of them in books where they were finished in the white and even browned. A lot with plain maple and the real fancy hawkens with a highly figured maple stock

Well that may very well be. I'll say this, T/C sidelock guns are good shooters, not the best, but good.( it's the shooter that actually does the shootin).
 If I wanted a replica of a true original Hawkin rifle. I sure wouldn't choose a T/C Hawkin! :D ;D

lol yeah the tc hawken is far off from being the real thing.  The hawken shop says the common way the hawkens of the 1830s-1840s was Browned.
