Anybody using Cast performance .357 bullets?
« on: January 21, 2009, 04:41:15 AM »
I am interested in getting some of their LBT style 180 grain bullets for use in my 10" Contender. Is anybody using them? I want to use H110, since I have a full 1 lbs can. This is going to be a 75 - 100 yard deer round. Can anybody help. Thanks

Ecellent bullets, I used them for a while, but I now have one of the Lee molds that duplicates them and one of Verals mold which who designed them.  180 grain bullets seems to be the sweet size for my .357s. 8)

I'm starting to use them.  Got 2 boxes and loaded some up, been to nasty to go shooting when I'm off.  Now it's to warm and muddy, waiting for the freeze that's coming this weekend.  Have ta check my Honey Do list to see if I can go play for a couple of hours.  DP

I use 180gr gas checked cast LFN's in 357max with great success on deer at the ranges you're talking for the mag.  Personally with the mag and deer I would limit my shots to a max of 75 to insure complete pass through.

Thanks guys. Your input has been very helpful, and I will keep the range a little shorter. I think that I am also going to try some of the Double Tap 180 grain wfngc bullets. They are claiming 1425 fps out of a 6" barrel. Thanks again.

Bought 2 boxes of them. The load sheet that came with them lists a max load of 14 grains of H110. About how many fps would that be out of a 10" contender? I don't have access to a chrono so I was just wondering. Thanks.

I have not tried the H110 yet, but I have mine coming out of a 686 357mag with a 8 and 3\8 barrel scooting along at 1400.  That is with AA9.  I am using the H110 with the 200 grn bullet and so far have them doing 1200 fps.
