U.S. plans $900 million pledge for Gaza
Mon Feb 23, 2009 7:26pm GMT  Email | Print | Share| Single Page[-] Text
  • WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States plans to pledge more than $900 million (621 million pounds) to help rebuild Gaza after Israel's invasion and strengthen the Western-backed Palestinian Authority, a U.S. official said on Monday.

The money will be channelled through U.N. and other bodies and will not be distributed via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton plans to make the announcement next week at a Gaza donors conference in Egypt.

Oh sure, we don't have the money right now...
But we can just print more when we start working the employees of the mint in 3 shifts to keep up with all the printing we need for the Stimulus. Don't worry about inflation, that's just some crackpot theory a few weird economists hold. ::)

Quote from NewsMax on the second porky pig bill that coming:

The bill will contain about 9,000 earmarks totaling $5 billion, congressional officials say. Many of the earmarks — loosely defined as local projects inserted by members of Congress — were inserted last year as the spending bills worked their way through various committees.

Wounderfull.

We don't have the money? Well, that's the whole point, isn't it. They're printing more and therefore lowering the value of everything we own, having us work the same hours for less buying power, driving the prices of everything up, and effectively giving us a big tax increase. Inflation is coming.

gold is a commodity, tommorrow it may be back to reality just like oil is a commodity and who you gonna sell your gold to . and who has the gold
.
Gold is sold as a commodity...but gold is a standard, a tangible asset. Once our convenience notes were based on gold; now they're based on hot air, debt, and war.... Right now in any country in the world you can likely trade bullion for handy currency easily at exchanges and banks.
In times of crisis tangible assets have more value than hot air....certainly after the air clears; and likely if they call in our currency the new currency issued will be commodity based;;except you will likely only get 10cents on a dollar.  (Somebody makes off like a bandit.)
For the last 12 years international banksters, certain families, others in the know have quietly placed their wealth in tangible assets...not the least metals, art, land.
So all I am saying is that for some people there is a definite deflation going on.

...TM7

I'm afraid that when inflation hits as it will, gold will only be valuable if you can spend it, eat it or use it to defend yourself. And all the gold is in the hands of people that you wont be able to even get in touch with when the SHTF. Not to mention the fact that the last time gold was used for money and power FDR made it against the law for private citizens to possess it. That will happen again if push comes to shove. I really believe that my knowledge of self preservation and my "precious metals " that I have in my gun safe will be the most valuable assets . But to each his own. I'm putting a tractor engine in a pick up that will get 40 M/G. I wont be needing a lexus. If there is no diesel then I have a mule. If the mule dies then I will walk. Gold is not of any importance to me , except the gold in my wedding band.  I'll be able to barter bullets for the things that I need that I cant make or catch.

Good for you, but if any real force wants to mess with you; you will be flattened..  But read what I wrote in post#7,,,, I said, " some people consider that deflation" regarding tangible assets like gold. Tis not meant to be argumentative. In times of war and strife a few have always found tangibles like Au handy.

..TM7

If a "real force" wants to mess with me they will only get lead. then when I am flattened I will be at the Place I am going to go to anyway. But by not having gold I will not be a very attractive target. Those that do will be......targets that is. I fully understand the point that you were making, however in my opinion having gold may not be an asset unless you have the "power to protect it" So even if you have a truckload of it you will not be able to buy nothing without exposing the fsct that you have it. And if you are buying it and not getting your hands on it you may only have a paper that says you own it. With that you may only be able to do the paper work after a bowel movement.  ;)

Not wanting to argue just making my point about gold and its value if it comes to the point that the dollar is worthless.
MHO

Now with that and $2.00 you can go get a good cup of coffee, and with $2.00 more a cup of Starbucks !  ;D

I dont want gold or the complications that it comes with. Having gold would assume that there is something someone has that I would want to buy!

And if they know you have some gold then it wont matter how smart you are, they will make you beg them to give it to them.

But we digress............

So the funds won't go directly to Hamas. What is new there? Money, and goods never went directly to Gaza regardless who was running it, besides Israel I mean.
