A hardy handshake to everyone.
« on: July 21, 2003, 03:45:20 PM »
I guess it is kinda late posting in here now, I got sidetracked for the last month talking about guns.  heh heh.  Anyway, I am a southern boy (Born in LA and raised in LA and GA), and I currently spend all the free time that the Army will give me at the in-laws Ranch outside of Chugwater, WY.  I started predator and varmint hunting here a couple of years ago, and I can't give it up.  I am an avid Elk and Mulie hunter, although Whitetails run through my blood.  I like upland bird hunting almost as much as four-legged critter hunting and am absolutely obsessed with duck hunting.  I have been hunting all of my life and will pass it on to my boy which will join us on December eighth of this year.  I don't know if I have left anything out.  Oh yeah, I just got back from Korea in March from my 12 month tour.  Pheasant are wild over there, and we used to have to chase them off the runway so the Apaches could take off.  I am talking about 100-150 pheasants that we would chase at a time.  That was the only good thing about Korea, besides the Bulgolgi and the Yakimandoo.  heh heh.  By the way, I am a Staff Sergeant in the US Army.

Sarge, welcome!   I'm guessing that you didn't become a fan of that fine winter kimchee and the wonderful aroma that seems to exude from every pore in the body during PT the morning following consumption?  I got close to your stomping grounds this past week end.  Went to my baby boy's Basic/AIT graduation at Benning.  He's on his way to Korea.
I can see already that we have many experiences in common and I'm looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks.  He must be an infantryman.  Well, Korea will definitely be an experience he will remember.  heh heh.  Tell him I wish him well, as it was getting kinda spooky over there when I left, but I guess it always has been.  Some of the things I remember about Korea will never leave me. Things such as running by the pig farm at 0600 after "Wing Night" at the NCO club every thursday, the 0330 alerts showing up in full battle rattle after staying up until 0200 talking to the wife.  The Comraderie of that place is great.  I almost didn't want to leave.  I wish I could have brought that crew back with me to the states.  Ha hah!  He will enjoy it, though...even during the hard times.  Thanks again for the welcome, and I will be looking for you in the forums.

hey...I never saw this forum either!!!!   hello all!!!  :D

I'm 18, live in White Haven, PA.  Been hunting for the past 4 years and fishing since i can remember.
Graduated this year from Hazleton Area High School in the technical field of Precision Machining(machine shop).   I was awarded a scholarship to explore further into the field but my heart is in wildlife so i had to turn it down.  Plan on going to college for something that has to do with outdoors but don't know exactly what yet.  Heck, maybe i'll take over Gary Alts job!!! :P   yeah yeah yeah.....young kid, big dreams.  :)  I've heard that way too many times
ummm......not much more for me to say.

Magnatec  I have always believed that whatever we can accomplish in life is limited only by our dreams, so dream big=do big.  Welcome to the fire.  What kind of fishing do you do?  What do you hunt?

thanks for sticking up for me butler.
Well, my favorite fish to catch go from Trout, Bass, Catfish, carp, and sometimes i like to mess around in the nearby pickeral lakes.
Around here i hunt just about all i can with big game. Whitetails, Bear, Turkey (considered big game in PA).
I'd like to try to go for some coyotes this archery season.  missed one last year but i'll kill him or his buddy someday!!!
