PPC Competition

I shot in some PPC matches several years ago. The course was shot in six shot strings at seven, 25, and 50 yards, with reloading necessary at most stages. Since most police departments now use semi-autos have they changed the course of fire to something more appropriate for autos or do they still require reloading after six rounds?

Well, as the new kid on the block, I can answer this one.

For the purest in the PPC shooting discipline, there will never be a auto involved in it!

I'm not one of those though. There are leagues nationwide still for this sport.

I help run a local league here in Northern Indiana. We, our shooters and I, shoot autos from time to time. To keep things on an even keel, we limit magazine capacity to 6 rounds each. That way the revolver guy isn't hampered if they still want to compete.

I hope that answers your question about PPC. Most of the bottom feeders that compete have moved on to the more "action" type of shooting. IDPA or IPSC.

Google "clark custom guns" in louisiana. Think they still make them using the model 10 S&W but have seen one colt trooper so converted and the trigger pull was sweet. Unfortunately $$$ being what it is couldn't afford it. However latched on to a trooper MKIII in 357 mag and although it won't win any beauty contests darn does it shoot. Frank

I was already an IPSC Master before I ever tried PPC but I could see the revolver was the way to go.  I bought a used M10 with a bull Apex barrel for $135,  in a very short time I was shooting Grand Master, I enjoyed it but it seemed easier than any of the other pistol deciplines to me.  Some other IPSC shooters tried it with 1911s but never did very well and soon quit.  I haven't shot it in yrs. now but think they still use revolvers.
