Browning A-Bolt ring height??
« on: April 09, 2009, 05:21:51 PM »
I'm scoping a NIB Browning A-Bolt blued synthetic .300 WSM.  I plan on using the Tactical Precision TRS "W" aluminum rings and Burris Tactical Extreme bases. The scope is a Zeiss Conquest 1" 3.5-10x44.  Does anyone know if I need the high rings or if the medium will work? Dimensions are Medium: .985" (25mm) High: 1.185" (30mm). I would like to add Butler Creek scope caps too.

Thanks,

I have a few A-Bolts. The biggest scope is a Leupold 4.5-14x 40mm mounted on one. I usually use Warne bases & rings, the vertical split ones. I have lows on one that has a 1.75-6x32 mounted. The rest all have medium height rings. With the medium there is still a little room to go with a larger objective scope. There is no set standard & each company's 'medium' can/will vary. I think you will do fine with a medium.

Not sure about the Zeiss site but some list ring height requirments/suggestions for a specific scope. I do have some mediums on a Mod 70 that has a Burris 4-16x44 scope. It is just off the barrel though.

I do know the Burris site/scope booklet has ring heights listed for Burris rings & scopes. Even with a Zeiss scope you can X reference it to get an idea on height.
