I have the old style Ruger 44 Mag carbine, which was given to me by a friend 3 years ago. I had initially mounted an old Nikon Monarch 1.5 x 4.5 scope but I moved that scope over to my shotgun for turkey hunting. I now have mounted on this rifle a Weaver Grand Slam 4.75 X fixed power scope, mainly because I bought a couple of extra of these scopes, when they were being phased out and I paid around $130 or so/each. Yeah, the scope objective is rather big for this little rifle but it does not bother me. This combination has worked well.

Little known scope - Pentax 1.75-5x20 Gameseeker is on mine and several other applications. They are on sale $109 - have bdc plus they are rugged. http://www.opticsplanet.net/pentax-riflescopes-gameseeker-89718.html
