I have recently received one of the Romanian Tokarevs from SOG.
Over all I'm happy with it. It's my first Tokarev.
It did come to me with a safety that would not function with your bare hand. I could use a screwdriver and some force to make the safety engage/dis-engage. I took the safety completely apart and found that they had drilled overlapping holes for the safety detent, leaving a sharp triangle between that the detent had to navigate over. I filed this down to a smooth rounded transition between the two, and also radiused the detent itself which was very sharply pointed, and after reassembly it works like it should, smoothly and with minimal effort with your thumb.
Also, in the area where they added the import safety, on both sides of the frame the metal finish is blemished with fine scratches.
There are perhaps a few small blemishes elsewhere, but over all the rest of the gun looks good and functions fine. There is some evidence of grinding on the top of the slide near the front sight. Not sure what happened there. The finish is slightly different there, and there are fine tool marks.
The mags are in excellent shape, as are the grips.
The holster appeared unissued, almost new.
Haven't fired it yet, ammo is on the way.
Regards,
Chris
