This is a funny one....10-15 foot tri stand, 200 yards, neck-head shot with a scoped 25-06 by a friend from the road. Something wrong in the head of that shooter.

Stuff happens... and then there are occasions where "stuff was done on purpose".  Shot in your stand by a dude with a scoped .25-'06...  That wasn't an "accident".  That was "criminal negligence" at the very least.  Probably, if investigated enough it was "attempted murder".  A neck shot at 200yds... Doesn't happen on accident.  If he could see good enough to make the shot, he could see good enough to know that whitetail deer to sit in tripod stands that are taller than the mesquite!!!  He made a purposeful shot.  He intended to kill his target.  Whether or not he was knew his target was a man in a tripod or not is a different story.  Either way, he meant to kill a target that was not properly identified (or more probably WAS properly identified).  He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law via the criminal court system or via the civil court system.  This kind of crap has to stop.  Ohhh, there was some fog... I thought he was a deer is BULL CRAP.  If you can't identify, you don't shoot!!!  It's easy...  properly identify your target or don't shoot.  If you can't handle that, you shouldn't be in the field.  If your eyesight is so damned bad that you can't see a 250 lb blaze orange blog walking across a cut field then you should be in a home somewhere instead of out driving, working, hunting etc.  If you are that friggin' blind and hit a pedestrian with your truck you are probably going to get prosecuted... no different.

This post has stayed on my mind, so I copied the Picture and blew it up
This shot is directly above the mans Heart I say the Guy's(shooter) estimated Bullets drop wrong and thats why
The Victim lived Because (I think )the shooter held over to compensate for drop , that didn't happen and there for hit, dead on
 ABOVE the heart.........
Seems real funny  :o all this from a supposed Good Safe Hunter
I truly Think NOT an accident

Hunter orange is not required in Texas, where this occurred, except on public lands. Most of our hunting is on private leases. Doesn't mean it's not prudent, just not required. Cannot imagine anyone shooting at movement without positive identification.
He could have been wearing some kind of camo like this.  ;D I don't know what other excuse there could be.

I'm only joking because he is alright.

watched  his mother  and other family gather around as he  was convulsing  and  dieing
he  died at 16  and  the shooter  was  related  to him  too
the shooter  doesn't hunt anymore

i have  let  a lot  of deer get  away  because  of this
by  the  time  i am  100% sure  of my target  they are gone.....oh well

I don't know what the shooter saw in his scope, but it could very well have looked like the stand was on the ground, and some limbs in front or behind the stand hunter could sure have looked like antlers. All it would have took is a small rise inbetween the shooter and the other hunter,to make it look like it was on the ground. In late evening light every thing change's,so you have to double check every shot you're going to take.I know of one guy that was wearing all black that came out of the woods at dusk, and was on a hog trail that was very well used.He had 3 rifles on him when he stepped out of the woods, and he was very lucky he did'nt get shot.    Digger

I agree that in many ways it looks a lot like attempted murder. Ditchdigger does make some good points above though. I just don't know what to think about it anymore.

Wow, Skyler showed me this, said I had to see it.  Reminds me of what a Nosler Ballistic tip does.

I agree in that here he was up off the ground, whistling and waving.  Scoped gun, 200 yards, directly over the heart.  Looks like an investigation needed for this one.  Was this guy a partner, friend, relative, just what is the relationship?

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
