454 Cast shooting gun

I already have a FA83 in 44 Magnum that shoots extremely well...I have gotten 5 shot 3" and less groups at 100 yards with a 2x Leupold with a heavy jacketed load.  I love the 83 and have been thinking of another in something I can shoot with less kick and open sights.  Yes...I know I could download the 44, but it is used for Whitetails and I like the load I worked up and don't see changing it or removing the scope.

After looking around at prices on line it does seem that the easiest way to get into a used FA83 is to get one in 454 as they sell for less $$.  Well, how could that be less recoil?  Well, that is why I am writing this.

My thought is to get a 7.5" or longer 454 and make it my cast bullet gun at very reasonable velocity.  My thought was that a 270 grain WFNGC bullet [or thereabouts in weight] at 1000 fps would penetrate very well and not beat me up.  I would never want to shoot factory heavy loads in it as my hands cannot take it.  I would start with virgin Starline brass and load it so I like it.

My 44 is a Premier grade with the Lovell mounts. 

I happen to like Pachy grips on several friends guns and my Contenders so I was thinking that a Field Grade 454 with PAchy grips, but the Premier Grade sights would be the way to go.

Your thoughts on what I should pay for this used on today's market and any other thoughts on this plan are appreciated.

Just watch Gunbroker. You can get a very good deal on 454's right now. I'd personally get a PG. You can download 454's to ridiculous levels if you want. 20 grains of IMR 4227 will get you 1000+ in a 7 1/2" barrel.  I've been shooting some 325HC over 16 grains estimated velocity around 850 or less.

I love the smell of 4227 in the morning.

 I just started casting and one of the first attempts was with Lee 255 RF bullets over 10 gr. of Unique. The bullets were cast from straight WW's with just a bit of solder added and tumble lubed with LLA. I was a little surprised that this load chronyed just short of 1100 fps. I was going to try the 300 gr. mold for crafting a deer load but may just harden this one up a BHN or two and step it up another 100 fps....or just use it as is.  Recoil is very mild obviously. This was shot at 30 yards from a rest and I had been tinkering with the scope focus just before the pic was snapped...in case you noticed that.  The last six shots were in the cluster at the top so there was some shooter error involved here.

I have never found a good load with HC in my 454.  Average with the best loads at 60 yds are about 2,3" (scoped/sandbags).
But I have never tried HC-bullets below 325 gr.
With 240 XTP - it`s a devil
