Question on Savage 99 safeties
« on: March 27, 2009, 06:54:33 AM »
I've just run across a Savage 99F that has two safeties, both of which work in conjunction. When you push the tang safety forward, the lever safety (which is attached by some manner of extension inside )moves forward as well. It has cut checkering as well; all other aspects of the gun look late 50's.Is this an interesting transition gun to the 60-'s tang safety guns, or just a cobbled together oddity by an obviously talented and creative smith?

any info would be appreciated
thanks
Rick

Your tang safety is aftermarket.  They are nice for lefties.  Thought I had bought one but found out it was far from complete.
