H.S. Sport King vs Colt Woodsman.....? for owners
« on: October 20, 2008, 02:08:36 PM »
Any trouble w/reliability, parts breakage, etc.?  How is accuracy say at 25 yds?  Also, any problems getting them to shoot point of aim?  Seems some may or may not have elevation adjustments, not an expert on these guns.

Any info appreciated.  Thanks.

I think most (maybe not all) Woodsmans had adjustable sights. I really never cared for the grip angle on them as it seems a bit awkward to me and while I've owned a few never considered them to be all that accurate either at least not as accurate as the High Standard guns I've owned.

The Sport King is the cheapest (I think) version of the High Standard and I seem to recall pretty much maybe all of them came without adjustable sights. To me the grip angle on HS guns is perfect and really helps accurate shooting and in general HS guns are very accurate. I never owned a Sport King tho and always bought the target versions of it. I've owned several mostly Trophy's and Victors I think they were. I don't have any of either at this time but if I could locate a nice Supermatic Trophy again I'd jump on it in a heart beat.

A pre-war colt woodsman I owned was verry accurate. I mean as accurate as a target rifle. I've never owned a post-war woodsman. Like GB the HS target line are accurate guns, IME they will bobble occasionally. I did have a HS HDmilitary model once that was a great shooter. Regards,
