Has anyone had any problems with the new ambi mag release on the 21 SF? My weapon is less than a month old. If you load a full mag into the well and try to release it, it takes a huge amount of pressure to get the release to go in, and then it sticks in, not locking the next mag in place.
I'm in the process of contacting Glock, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems with theirs.

You probably could find out more information on this at GlockTalk.com than any where else. There have been many issues with the ambi mag release models.

Yep, Glock Talk has reported problems with the ambi mag catch and the trigger bar. I'm sure Glock will do an "Upgrade" to fix the problem one of these days---

Most other manufacturers would Recall the defective models. That's the one problem I have with Glock! They never admit there's a problem with their "Perfection". Thank God there's inexpensive aftermarket parts available!

Savage, I purchased and brought my new Glock model 21-SF home today! I did notice the magazine was a little hard to drop down. The release button or tab goes clean through to the other side (left & right release button) I simply put a tiny amount of gun grease on this sliding part and all is well with the release.

However, when I push the magazine (full of bullets) back into the grip area, it acts like it is locked in but when I give it the second push, something clicks and the magazine goes up about a 1/8 of an inch higher and locks. I will play with it some this week and try to get things to function a little easier as far as the release and dropping the magazine go.

It's not unusual for the controls to be a bit stiff on a new pistol. Once you've used it a bit it will likely smooth out. If the empty mag is just reluctant to drop from the grip, I have been known to use "Armor All" inside the grip frame and on magazines. I like for them to fly right out of there when I press the release. The "SF" models use the front mag cutout to retain the magazine. No experience with those. The mag catch springs in Glocks are always pretty strong IMO. I have been known to tweak them a bit-------

Savage going to the range today, even though it is raining here......man is it wet! This morning I tried to drop the fully loaded mag and I could NOT push either of the release buttons or tabs inorder to do so.

Also when I put the fully loaded mag, back into the pistol grip it clicks with a shove of the hand and then push a little more and it clicks again. To me this is a little strange, don't know what is going on there but I suppose with time I will find out more. I know that one can NOT unload this new Glock 21-SF model with just a push on the release button, hell it takes to hands and a lot of strengh..........I will get in touch with Glock if this does not become better with time.

Check the mag release spring for proper installation. I'm sure you're using the new magazines made for the SF, so doubt that's a problem. Good luck today!

Savage we got back from the range shooting several Glock pistols and a couple of my Kimbers too! The new Gock 21-SF shoot very well using that Blazer ammo in the hardball 230 grain bullet. The first 50 rounds was spent on sighting and slow fire with this handgun.

Now after that session it was time for a break and then we got down to business at hand using this 21 Glock. I started at 3 & 6 feet from the target and it was fast draw placing shots on 9-inch paper plates. The 21-SF model passed with flying colors, recoil was more of a push as opposed to a quick rap from my 10mm Glock 20 model.

I then went back to 21 feet and shot several fast rounds (4 clips full) at the 9 inch target. All shots were in the inner circle of that 9-inch target, which is ruffly 6 inches. This was a fast fire shooting session. I jumped back to 35 feet with this pistol and fired 10 rounds at slow fire and another 10 rounds at fast fire, fast as I could get on target and pull trigger. I hit the paper plate 7 out of 10 rounds and the rounds that missed, were only by an inch or so.

The bottom line is this pistol is a joy to shoot and makes one heck of a Stopper weapon up close for anyone who can grip it well. The "ambi release" worked just fine after several magazines had been put through the pistol. I am well pleased with this pistol's accuracy and working mechanics.

Great! Glad you 21 meets your expectations! The 21 is a hell of a fighting pistol.
