Success with the .223
« on: March 14, 2009, 03:28:08 PM »
Ive been reloading for almost 2 years now. Ive done OK but usually my best groups were just over an inch. Which was fine for me, just couldnt find the time to fine tune the loads. I figured under 2 inches were fine for hunting, as long they were reliable. Well today I shot 20 of my reloads 40grain Vmaxes over 27 grains W748 . 4 5 shot groups under an inch. all the groups were at .7 or .8 CTC. The gun is a Rem 700 223 that will shoot the Winchester 45 grain JHP at .5 or better. So Im getting closer ;D ;D.  Thanks for all the help guys, Ive learned alot right here.
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

O no, another BR shooter in the makeing! Maybe not, but I`ll bet you find more time to work up loads now. Even though those little bug hole in the paper look nice they won`t improve you field shooting that much, but they are still nice to show off.  ;)

Catfish. A BR shooter by no means. But it feels good to hit the 1 inch mark. But you,re right field shooting is totally different, I bet for every 20 rounds I shoot off the bench I shoot 10 in a field position, wether its with a bipod, or using a tree to steady my shot, or freehand, But now I can do it with my reloads  ;D Also I was shooting with my brother, Who was shooting factory rounds, So beating him made it all the sweeter
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting
