« on: March 16, 2009, 03:52:20 AM »
got it last week, very nice in as new condition. down loaded manual from T/C.
I was wondering if anyone knows the purpose of the vented barrel and reciever. nothing mentioned about it in the manual. Don't have much expierence with inlines, been a sidelock shooter for over 50 years. this is a new one for myself.

the vent holes were to keep an even charge going to the powder to create more accuracy.  the excess charge from the cap goes out the vent holes.  When I owned one, I would cover the holes while hunting to keep moisture out of  the charge.  I either used a crayon and filled the holes with candle wax.

As bubba stated, you have to keep the vent holes covered in wet, damp weather.

Only load that would shoot reliably in mine was good old black powder and CCI #11 magnum caps.
Hunted with a Scout for over a dozen years and that was the only load that went bang everytime
under all hunting conditions.

At the range(summer) it would shoot any powder, under hunting conditions it was a different gun.
I just tired of having to completely tear the gun down to clean it.
