New base for my Coehorn
« on: March 13, 2009, 04:00:14 PM »
Quite some time ago I purchased a fine soda can Coehorn barrel from Cannon Mike.
I used a crude base until we finally got around to making a base to match the barrel.
I wanted something that would look nice when used as a decoration as well as being a shooter.
The design is not historically correct, but it is pleasing to my eye.

The power tools were put away before we had Celebratory Beverage.

I will bore you with  part two shortly.

Looks strong enough to hold the Mortar no problem, nice design, good wood workmanship, I like it! BoomLover

Next time you take a trip to your favorite scrapyard look for the panic bars that allow one to push open those big glass doors. And take a small file with you. Alot of those push bars are made of brass as I picked up a few for projects that in all likely hood will never get to. They are about 1.5 to 2" wide and about30" long and about 3/8" thick. Would make great trunion covers, and other spiffy decorations. Funny thing, ever watch a 300lb fat man climb into one of the four'xfour' cardboard containers scrounging around looking for the holy grail. Yep did that a few times. First time the folks that work there got kinda excited, now they usually don't even bat an eye. So yes there is gold in them there containers all you gotta do is get it. Be suprised at what gets tossed. Coffins, metal headstones, funeral vases and a few other choice goodies. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Frank

Welcome to the board Keyster, that's a fine looking piece of ordnance you've got there.

Now on to the sudsy stuff; I'm just curious, what is the brand of that brew? I enlarged the photo, but still can't make out the label.

I thought there might be a few questions, but I didn't expect that one.

I've had SNPA before it's not bad after a day of shooting cannons to rinse the powder taste out of your mouth; rinse not lubricate.

Pretty nice shop you have there keyster.   Couldn't figure out what was wrong with it a first; it's clean!   Stick around the board for a while and we'll help you fix that!  Welcome!

As you can tell, I dig the brews - made a note of this PA, and will check it out. Thanks K & DD.

You should have run a "guess the beer" contest. I picked up on the brand the instant I saw the color of the label.

I have many other valuable skills as well ;-)
