139 gr Hornady SSTs in a 7mm08
« on: March 07, 2009, 03:16:38 PM »
Im getting a rem model 7 in 7mm-08 ina couple weeks. Im looking into bullets. Ive got some 160 Nosler partitions &some 162 Hornady SSTs for in my 7mag, But sounds like the 120gr or 140 grain bullets are better suited for the 7-08. Anyone shooting the 139 SSTs in a 7mm-08 They got some good reviews on Midway,
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

I've shot the 139 Interbonds, they shot good. I've been shooting the 140 Accubond the last 2 years.

139gr sst and Varget. My Encore loved em. Have not had a chance to kill anything with them but they should do the trick.

I got a Model 7 CDL in 7/08 for my daughter and found a load using 139 Hornady IL bullets over 41.5 grains of IMR4064 powder in Winchester brass that put 3 shots into one ragged hole at 100 yds.  I think that is pretty good from a thin 20" over the counter barrel/rifle.  After seeing what this little rifle would do as far as accuracy I didn't want to hand it over, but I kept my promise.  I didn't think I liked 7mm bore rifles ::).

I had used IMR-4064 but have found Varget to be a little more consistent. Either one will work well for you.

+1 on the varget and hornady 139gr sst,  I also loaded some 154gr sst over the varget and it did exceptionally well too.  This was in a 7mm08 encore.
