What do you guys carry when riding? Anyone carry long guns?

Howdy PastorP,

   I always carry my North American Arms .22 mag since it is small and fits easily in a pocket or boot. If I am on a long trip, I bring it, as well as a regular size pistol in either 9 mm or the ever reliable .357 mag. Never carry a long gun except when on the way hunting. I also make sure that I carry on the left side so if I have to use it while riding, I can still work the throttle with the right hand, You certainly would not want to have to slow down to pull out the pistol !! I carry a hand gun but never tried to haul a long gun...  :-\  Well, there was that time with the AK strapped across my back... Which reminds me, did y'all ever notice that the po-leese got no sence of humor when it comes to bikers?   ;D

Ruger snubbie .357 never fails. I have carried a long gun one or twice going to the range but it is a PITA, I am looking for an old side hack for just that reason tho.

.22 mag always with me and a S&W 686 2.5 holstered for special occasions. Way too much attention carrying a long gun don't do it.

My ruger security six 357 under my jacket.  When going hunting my encore in 308 with the 15 inch barrel fits well in my bag on my backrest.

Springfield XD 45 with standard slide and compact grip. Never tried a rifle. Better IMHO to be incognito.

When I moved to Silver City,NM I owned a yamaha 360enduro. I bought a mexican made rifle scabard like was used on horseback. I straped it to the front forks and carried my varmit rifle in it on rides throught the mountains. Worked for me.

I know the attitudes in the southwest was more favortable towards guns back then. Even the high scool let out the first week of deer season.

I've never carried a long gun on a road trip. I would imaninge passing through so many juristrictions would eventually get you in trouble. So like you I pack a handgun. Regards,

On a dual sport and in the Hills I would haul a long gun. On a run with the buds the long guns will be in the supprt ride if at all. I alread get enough looks without looking like someone out of Streets of Fire.

When going trap shooting my dad and I used to carry 2 shotguns and a case or 2 of shot shells with us on our goldwing, looked pretty cool going down the road.

I also used to ride my bike late in the year and I used to go run up the interstate to go duck and goose hunting and I carried a shotgun, shell box, waders for a 20 mile run to meet my buddies at the lake. It was a trick to carry the birds back home though....
