Newbie questions

What type of accessories do I need to purchase for my 50 cal Encore? I have never shot black powder and not sure where to start. I did pick up a few cans of Buckhorn at Sportsmans Warehouse today, the one here in Wichita is going out of business!

Bubba, Thats just it, all I have is the gun and some powder. Looking for advice on what I need to buy.

i would suggest u get rid of the T/C recoil pad and put on a LIMBSAVER recoil pad on your ENCORE  .

Can I ask why you recommend the knight range rod?, I have the T/C power rod and it works well.

Not Grouse, but the Knight Range Rod is 33.5" long, will load and clean ANY inline and most sidelocks. I have the Power Rods also, they work well for loading, but you need to screw on an extension/jag for patching and cleaning. They can be had for $20-$25 bucks if you shop around. If you are a Club Member of Sportsmans Guide, you can get it for $17.97, $19.97 for non-members. Scroll to the bottom of the page at this link, and make sure you choose the caliber in the "color/size" drop down. I highly recommend this rod also.

I do use the t/c extended jag at the range on the power rod. I had a fiberglass range rod that snapped the first time I used it, thought that was what you were talking about.

Yep, it's a real versitle rod. To me it's a must have.
